This product somehow interferes with the wifi in my house and prevents me from connecting while it’s running in proximity to the computer.

I had another similar product from this manufacturer and it did the same thing. The manufacturer claims no one else has had a problem with this. However, I find this difficult to believe since setting up 2 out of 2 of their devices and getting the same result.

Additionally, there are only three channels this can run on and I bought four of them. Which means one can’t have it’s own channel to run on and battles with the other camera on that channel for the receivers attention. So, Just know that you can only run 3 cameras and/or 3 receivers within range of each other.

The cameras can be run off one receiver and switch the video between the three cameras or each can have it’s own dedicated receiver and have full time camera. But you can’t have a forth receiver. Or…if you use two cameras on one receiver…then you’ve used up two channels and can only add one more receiver. Did that make sense?

The little wireless sysytem works great. No wires and easy to install. The image breaks up in transmission for a few secs every now and then, but overall the image is sharp and reliable. Has a motion sensor so it beeps when it senses motion and you can even see at night…………with almost no light.

I have 4 cameras, as I live in Murder City, and it gives great views and for the $$, you can’t beat it. The cameras are tiny and easy to mount. Just make sure you mount ‘em near electric outlets as each camera has to be plugged in,or can be hotwired, as the batteries last like 8 hours and would get expensive.

For the money a great deal for some security.

Beware of the fact that these cameras require AC Adaptors to function properly, although you can run the camera using 9V battery, you will not get more than 4 hours of power and the transmission quality will be very poor.

I have this for my 4011 system. Its better than the silver spherical camera that came with the system mentioned earlier. The reception is better, motion detection is better, and the picture is clearer.

I’ve only had it for a few weeks so I don’t know how it will work in the rain and cold. My only complaints are that the power cord is too short, the IR light is noticeable at night, and the camera doesn’t swivel wide enough to extreme angles.

The camera served the us well. Night vision is a little grainy but you could make out the mare in the stall. The weather did effect the reception (thunderstorm) but we were still able to make out a faily good picture. The camera sure beat running to the barn every hour to check on mares. Well worth the money spent to get a few winks of shut eye during foaling season.

Security cameras are for just that… security. This dlink, like others from dlink I have tried, turns out to be worthless. If you need to depend on a “security camera”, this internet webcam is not the solution. It drops offline, wired or wireless. One hour the camera will work, the next minute for no reason it stops. The only fix is a reboot i.e. unplug the power. Hardly reliable and certainlly NOT security! A security camera means its dependable 24/7, this camera is just junk and stops sending video and you can not access the camera without a power cycle to the camera. Also, this camera must have activex installed on your pc to even view video. No cell smart phone devices have acticex support so forget about cell phone viewing. And most if not all companies block activex applications on work PC’s due to virus-security reasons. So forget about viewing this webcam video from a work PC. Nada going to happen. Basically this internet webcam is worthless as any type of reliable security camera. Do not waste your $$$. And dlink support solution to camera freeze-ups?… unplug the camera from the power. Hardly an option when no one is home or in the shop after hours/nights/weekends. And thus there goes your security. What does this camera do? It is basically a wireless/wired webcam. Not for security. Not for smart phone viewing. Not for work PC viewing. Not anything you can depend on to work 24/7 without at least several power cycles. And a simple pc webcam is a lot less costly than this childs toy. I wasted a lot of $$$ on this only to discover you must have activex installed on a pc to view video, no smart phone support (due to the activex issue), and then you have to deal with those constant camera freeze-ups. And the MYDLINK web connect also uses activex from your PC, so while [...] is a great idea, it is NOT a usable idea. Not from a smart phone or work PC viewing point of view. Just beware all the fallbacks involved with this so called security internet webcam. Security it is NOT. And viewing is extremely limited, that is when the camera is not froze up and needing a power cycle.

setup was easy. Hooked right into my dLink wireless router. Chrome does not work. Not good. IE blows compared to Chrome.

Also it says that the firmware needs to be updated, but I can’t find the file on dLink’s site. Last week I easily found the firmware update on my DLink router but after 20 fustrating minutes looking for the firmware I gave up. Not cool. So far not that great.

I have had this for only 2 days so I will try to remember to update for any longevity issues. But as these thing go, it was easy to setup. The wireless setup using WPS did not work but I have never had a product install using it. Has anyone? So the wizard took me through an Ethernet setup, then to wireless which worked smoothly. I have since tried it in several different locations in the house and each time after I plugged it back in it quickly reestablished network connection. The free D-viewcam software for your computer is nice. I also found the Mydlink remote connection to be just fine, and free. The routine of establishing the mydlink account from the desktop wizard was a bit odd but it worked. The picture is not great, but perfectly adequate for my modest petcam purposes. As I said. It works as advertised so I give it 5 stars.

Two notes:

– In other dlink camera reviews here I read that the mydlink does not work with Firefox. It works just fine for me. Firefox invokes java and includes the modest zoom the camera is capable of.

– I have an HP Windows Home Server (WHS) and the D-viewcam Beta software 1.00 is not working with the WHS. WHS was just upgraded to Power Pack 3 and I wonder if that is the issue. The Addin installs but has no connection to the camera. I am engaged now with Dlink email support. We will see how that goes.

I bought this camera along with the Panasonic wireless to test out.

I was able to set up the dlink wireless camera in just a few minutes and view on the internet. (Panasonic took a lot longer but instructions on the review were great help!)

At first I thought this camera was horrible because the picture was so blurry.

I figured out that I had to turn the front lens to get it clear and was impressed with the picture.

I have not had to mess with it since then and the camera works well.

I have motion detection setup and every time someone comes up to my front door or walks in my front yard I receive a picture in my email. I think it is very cool and the picture is pretty nice.

One thing you cannot do with this camera that you can do with the Panasonic is control movement from the internet but I am ok with that. Also, I sometimes try to connect to my camera via mydlink and the connection is broken.

I haven’t had time to figure that out yet but I suspect it has something to do with comcast.

I do still receive the motion detection emails even when I cannot connect to the camera over the internet from work so I know its setup issue.

Sound is also quite clear!

I do not think it is fair for the other reviewer to give this 1 star because it doesn’t work on their iphone so I am giving it 5 stars

I can understand the frustration they may have. Maybe you can ask dlink support for assistance?

P.S. dlink support was supportive when I had a question about ports to set up with motion detection.

They did only have to direct me to comcast support which took multiple calls and finally on third call I got a port that worked and emails from motion detection are now sent out using comcast email.

Port is 587 for comcast smtp setup.

All in all it is a pretty decent camera.

I bought this to monitor my baby/sitter remotely, and it doesn’t support the iphone so it is definitely not worth it. I already had the Linksys WVC54GCA Webcam and it worked great on the iphone for about half the price of this one, and i figured this did the same, but i was wrong.

If you were planning on using the iphone to view video from this camera, don’t bother.

Product seemed to have all the features I wanted. The default is battery power, but offers a hardwire installation option. After purchasing a new transformer (the existing doorbell transformer did not meet the instruction manual’s specs), the unit would not work at all. I then switched to battery power and the unit worked for an hour or so. Then the video went out. Doorbell worked fine. After several unsuccessful attempts at reinstalling the batteries and exhausting all of the troubleshooting tips in the manual, I returned the item. Didn’t work for me.

I thought this would be great, but once it was set up, EVERYTHING triggered it to go off. And everytime it activated it would cause my Verizon internet connection to be lost! And if you have a metal door forget about using it. It has to be mounted to a non metal surface because being near anything metal interferes with the signal, so it sets it off constantly and the picture has so much static its unviewable. Basically ended up being a waste of money.

I am hard of hearing so I use this to alert me that someone is at the front door. The strobe and video are outstanding. The transmitter transmits the signal through the entire 2,000 SF home and even to the second floor office room. Thank you Honeywell and Amazon this is a great product and well worth the money. I bought this for a door about 60 feet from the livingroom. The first unit was defective. Upon pushing the doorbell only 8 feet away, the video image would only display for about 2 seconds. It was advertised to display for 3o seconds. I exchanged the unit for another

(Amazon is great !).

The second unit displayed the image for the full 30 seconds up to 45 feet away. The image was clear and strong until that 45 feet. Once I got the unit outside behind a wall, the image was broken and only a few seconds long, no matter the channel setting or positioning of the transmitter or receiver. In short, the unit is great for shorter unobstructed uses. Funny thing though, the anti-theft feature activates the camera when you open the unit to change the channels, there must be a different antnae for that because the image is great and long lasting ( I guess that eats up the battery to much to be used for the doorbell). I really liked the features and only wished it worked in a real world home setting. If you’re going to be that close to the door, you could always just look out the peep hole.

The cable thickness does limit what you can use it for, but it’s meant for looking behind walls, etc. and it does that job perfectly. It’s fairly sturdy and the camera does not bend much, which is exactly what I needed it for.

For the price, this is the best product of it’s kind that I could find. The LCD is removable, so you can hold it about 20 ft or so from the actual camera, and you can TV out the output of this to a laptop or recorder.

Quite good for the price. Maybe next time they will make the cable smaller and more flexible. Till then, this is a great deal instead of an awesome deal.

I have had this camera for more than a year and I would never recommend it to a person who has very little knowledge of a computer/network/internet structure. Axis’ support is not consistent, it depends on who answers the phone: some people are very knowledgeable and really try to help you, while others either don’t know all the features that well or just don’t feel like dealing with a regular consumer. Axis is a big company, but it doesn’t provide a great support for a home consumer who has a couple of cameras and no IT knowledge.

First of all, I didn’t have any problems running it wirelessly (Motorola SBG900), but at the end I connected it to one of our CAT5 outlets, so I don’t steal all internet bandwidth from my wireless network while running this camera on its highest resolution.

I had several problems with Axis 207MW starting from getting it online, (external access), and ending with non-working email notifications. Every time I addressed camera’s manual or online FAQ section, I would realize that there was not enough information. Calling Axis support, waiting on hold, explaining every little thing, confirming your set up and trying to figure out why something doesn’t work is a very tedious thing to do. Their email support was even less useful (at least in my case).

I spent hours trying to set up an email notification feature. I got conflicting messages from Axis support: some agents were stating that this camera should work with Yahoo and Hotmail SMTPs while other told me that it would not. I still don’t know what the case is because I found out that my ISP blocks many ports, including port 25, so I couldn’t send an outgoing email using Hotmail/Yahoo/Gmail SMTP – I had to use Cox’s email address for that purpose. (I also tried to change a default SMTP port to one, which is not blocked by my ISP, but I couldn’t make it work with Axis anyway.) Well, at the end I get daily motion notifications on my yahoo account without any problems (sent from my Cox email), but I think I got a couple of gray hairs during this set-up process ))

The software provided with this camera is good, but you can use it for free only if you have 1 camera. If you have more than one camera, including any USB cameras you may have set up for monitoring, you will have to pay a lot of money for Axis’ software. I found an easy solution: I bought Blue Iris software, which is very easy to use and allows you to run several cameras at the same time utilizing motion sensing capabilities. I evaluated many web monitoring programs before I ended up buying Blue Iris.

The picture quality is great, you won’t find anything better in this price range with so many features supported, but if you’re not willing to deal with all technical problems, which may arise if you try to make the most of Axis 207MW, do not buy it.

So, I have been evaluating this camera for a week now and related Axis software. The only issue I have run into so far is this recovery problem over a wireless network. Unfortunately its a killer for the product. Rebooting my 2wire modem hangs the 207 camera, which requires a power cycle to recover. If you are planning to remotely manage these cameras, they must be reliable and never hang, no matter what! In my case, no one is at the property to cycle power on a hung camera… so monitoring is dead until the next visit to the property. This is unacceptable in my opinion. Its very unfortunate, since I like the Axis software and the camera quality. The support channel over the web at Axis is weak as well. You get one question answered per day, which would make a 20 minute telephone conversation 20 days long. I don’t understand why you can’t get phone support, it would be much much faster. In any case, I would not recommend buying this product if you are planning to run with a wireless 2wire modem. I am sending this and a 211w back to Axis.

Good camera for the money. The wireless didn’t work with my home N system (the access point was a Linksys WRT160N) but worked fine with the SonicWall TZ 190 it was actually meant to work with. The feature set is great. It will upload to FTP, email, HTTP, and has notification options for just signaling motion. Setup is either via the simple interface, which may still be a little complicated for neophytes, or the advanced which is what I expected from Axis.

The bad: Motion detection is easily set off by lighting changes or clouds going by. The low light performance in, unsurprisingly, poor. It has a habit of not uploading video sometimes (if it was too long or the audio failed to encode) and uploads what amounts to the error document from the failure. Finally, the frame rate in the mega pixel range is no where near what they claim. 1-2FPS is all you’ll get in the uploaded file.

Once you get it setup, it’s great. Getting it there might take a bit more that you expect. Axis should look into some sort negation of overall light changes so that you don’t get video saved because of lights being dimmed.

I purchased this camera with the intention of monitoring my house while away. Wireless was important since I did not wish to run extra cables to the location. While the camera did ‘work’, it was consistently for only a short period of time before it would consistently drop the connection with the router. Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes a few hours. I am familar with routing, port numbers and such which by the way for a novice can be quite overwhelming. I also have a older wired ethernet Axis ip camera which throughout the years has worked flawlessly. But this one is a dud. Other reviews suggested that it does work when wired to the ethernet connection. But that of course defeats the extra spent for wireless capability.

Ok I guess if your child is beside you and you are worried that if you turned your back, someone will swipe your child. Holding their hand will accomplish the same thing in my opinion. Personally, I dont see much practical application for this. We stopped using ours.

Got this product back in late March as it was a gold box deal at the time and were planning an upcoming trip to Disney. Thought it would be great to have that extra piece of mind at the park. Trip wasn’t until late July so after receiving the item, I stashed it for a while until the trip date got closer. About a week before we left, I took these out (We bought two, one with my wifes Amazon account as well) and proceeded to try and set them up. Well, the battery for the child watch unit is a rechargeable watch type battery and unfortunately, on one of the units, it was corroded. I went to a local battery store…a store that specializes in batteries…and they did not carry a replacement for this. So there is one unit down. The charging unit is made very cheaply which led to issues trying to keep the cable positioned in a way as to allow it to charge the child watch unit.

After a few hours, was finally able to get ONE of these “working”. Unfortunately, it was not consistent when it made an attempt to display which direction the watch was from the parent unit. Sometimes it was right, sometimes it wasn’t. To make it worse, when it was right, it took a while to get a right reading so in real life, if you are at a busy place, by the time it tells you the right direction, it may be too late to do anything about it. Also, there is supposed to be an alert/panic feature to where the child can press the button on the watch if he/she is lost and it will set off an alarm to let the parent know to start looking around. This worked about 70% of the time in my testing of this.

To summarize:

- Poorly made

- Inconsistent and slow readings

- Confusing setup

I’m a little disappointed that this was a featured item by Amazon. I’m even more disappointed in myself for not opening it and testing it sooner before the returns period expired. Lesson learned.

First of all, I’m a bit of a gadget geek and work in the IT industry, so I think I’m a pretty good judge of quality when it comes to electronics.

We recently moved into what most would call a great neighborhood. One downside to our new house is that it doesn’t have a fenced back yard for our kids to play in. One day our 2 1/2 yr. old son managed to get out of the house and wandered down to the street corner one house down – he likes to go for walks. Jinny thought he was out helping me in the garage. I thought he was inside. Some ‘nice’ neighbors brought him back (thanks!) then proceeded to call the cops and report us for child neglect (Thanks for nothing!!!) Whatever happened to watching out for neighbors???? They obviously don’t have small kids. The police were very understanding and assured us they were only following up on the call and not going to arrest us. Kudos to the police for doing a great job.

So, now my wife is terrified to let the kids out of her sight. We bought this device as a backup, not the primary way to keep track of the kids, until we can get a fence installed.

After convincing him it was a nice watch to wear, we proceeded to test it.

Inside the house it picked up the signal and indicated direction like it’s advertised. When we went outside, as soon as our son walked more than 15 feet away, the receiver couldn’t pick up the signal, and that was with clear unobstructed site. The device claims you can set an out of range warning signal for up to 98 ft. It doesn’t even work for the shortest range setting.

If you decide to take your chances, there are also a couple of other minor issues to consider. The wrist band is too easy for kids to take off. Our son had it off in less than a minute the first time we put it on him. Second, this is more an annoyance, there’s no way to disable the ‘panic button’ on the watch.

At first when I received my camera, I had a bit of trouble setting it up. I was frustrated to find that there was no contact number for customer service, instead you had to email them. So we emailed back and forth a few times until I asked to be called, and within 30 minutes, someone called and walked me through the setup. Since then, I had a few more questions, and while its frustrating to email instead of call, they replied back within minutes every time. I am blown away by how responsive and helpful their customer service is.

One thing which I did not see in the description is that when moonlight mode is on, the frames per second drop from 30 to 7.5

We use the camera as a monitor for our baby, and it works great, but at night, the adjacent bathroom light must be on with the door partially cracked to allow enough light for moonlight mode to work (a nightlight won’t be enough).

We will likely switch to the higher model for the infrared nightvision. Overall though, it is a great camera and again, I cannot praise the customer service enough. Would highly recommend this product.

Yes, I know a cheapo wired web cam can show them my daughter as well, but I dont want to have to put her in front on my computer every time I want to show her to them. With this wireless cam I can show her in more natural positons like in her crib, on my bed, in the swing, downstairs, chaning the diaper in the bathroom, outside the house, or just me or my wife holding her in the living room.

This web cam is not as east to set up as the wired versions, this required a little knowledge of networking, but the unusual manual and helps you with this, and they have a help center which others have said it very good, luckily I didn’t need it myself.

If all you need is a basic web cam, then this is not for you. This is great for showing off the kids to relative who live too far away to come often.

Price is high in my opinion, but what am I gonna do? make one myself? Showing my mother her first grandchild is pricless, so its worth the cost to me. The other sharx2607 has infared, but its daytime colors are not as good, good luck with your decision. Merry Christmas.

I’ve been using the Sharx SCNC2606 for about a month now. I works just as advertised with fantastic video quality and a lot of helpful user controls in the web based Settings panels. I first turned the camera on in a semi dark room and instantly the camera image was better than what I was seeing in the subdued light. The colors were very true and the image bright. I actually turned on the room light to verify how the room really appeared. And, this was all without the Moonlight mode on!

I next positioned the camera facing to the outside through a window. Again, the colors (fall colors, in this case) were superb. I had good resolution of the street sign about 70 feet away. The leaves were falling from a nearby tree and I could follow each individual, multi-colored leaf falling to the ground. As the sun set and the neighborhood darkened, I could see people waking by the house about 40 feet away with minimal illumination from the 2 outside lights on the the house — again, without the moonlight mode on.

In summary, this is a great product and I am very satisfied.

Do not buy this camera. It has a very poor wireless range. I have several other wireless devices (IP cameras, Laptop, PDA) and they all work fine. This camera is located 15′ from my router without any walls in between and it connects sporadically and just loses its connection for no reason. My other wireless devices are located in other rooms and they all work fine. I contacted them to get a RMA number and after five days I got an email saying that they will send me a shipping box to return my unit, however that was four weeks ago and I have not received anything from them and they do not even answer my emails any more. You will be wasting your money buying this product.

I don’t consider myself a techie, although my husband is happy that I am capable of hooking up and configuring all of our electronics. With that said, based on previous reviews, I was a bit concerned that I would be in over my head setting up this camera. However, setup was an absolute breeze. I had my camera working wireless in less than 20 minutes. The setup of remote access took a bit more attention but it was not difficult. Plus, I used the recommended free [...] site to create my own hostname and point it towards my dynamic IP. As others have already stated, the image quality is fantastic.

I have used Lorex products in the past and have been happy with them. I wanted a camera on my detached garage to view people entering my yard. I spent hours trying to find a place to mount the receiver. I would get full strength reception within 50 feet if there were no obstacles — my hand, leaves on a tree and a ceiling overhang all degrade the signal to “connecting”. I would avoid buying this product. To rule out 2.4ghz interference, I disconnected my Linksys WRT610N 2.4ghz router and Panasonic DECT cordless system. Neither made a difference.

I am very disappointed that the system does not work when mounted on two ceiling overhangs when they are in direct sight within 30 feet of each other. I’m returning this one.

Pros: Very Nice Wireless Camera.

After several days of computer research on wireless security systems and cameras I choose the Lorex for the metal weatherproof case, and good night vision. I already have several networked computers running Vista and XP SP3 with TV Video Cards, so I thought I would purchase an outdoor wireless camera system or components to capture movement, intrusions, etc. and to monitor my home from the internet when on vacation or visiting my children out of town. I found the Lorex 2201 to be a good compromise of price versus quality. My ATI Radeon X 1300 Pro TV Video Card did not recognize the Lorex LW2201, but it would play fine hooked to any TV with RCA inputs. I purchased a Dazzle USB Video Capture device and it worked fine on my computer. Using Digi-Watcher software downloaded from Tucows, I can monitor this camera as well as two other Logitech USB Quickcams, record any motion, let it send me e-mail of the motion, and even post pictures to a hidden website every minute. Night vision works to about 30 to 40 feet, but details are not clear enough to identify faces.

Overall I would give high marks to this camera. I purchased it on Amazon for a lot less than advertized at [...] and although I had to buy software and a capture card, overall I have an excellent home surveillance system for under $225

Possible Cons: Wireless distance has been reported as limited, although I am getting an acceptable picture from about 50 feet through aluminum siding and two normal interior room walls. Keep in mind that you must provide power to the camera, and will need to drill at least a three eights inch hole through an exterior wall to feed the power cord, or use an outside power outlet.

I already owned another Lorex package product which included 4 of these wireless cameras and a small 7″ lcd display with wireless receiver. After about 3 months of use, the display failed completely, while the cameras continued to work. Lorex support was less than outstanding on dealing with the display issue and I have read other reports about reliability concerns. So, in an attempt to remedy my problem, I bought this setup which gave me an extra camera and the small wireless receiver. The receiver will connect to most modern displays via the included connector cables and thus provide the same 4 panel view that the Lorex wireless display had. In this way, I now have a reliable display that is larger, brighter and easier to use than the Lorex version. The receiver allows for single channel (full screen) display or a quad view of all four cameras at once. It also allows for easy pairing and has a selectable view mode of lower quality for simple viewing at higher fps, vs. a higher VGA quality with lower fps. I find the higher quality more useful and the lower fps is not troublesome for my purposes. It would be simple to run this unit to a DVR and record also, though I have yet to do so. As the available light diminishes, the cameras quickly (too quickly in my opinion) go to black and white mode. The night time view distance is obviously much less, but sufficient unless it is complete darkness. I’d say it comes close to achieving its claimed 40′ distance at night, but with much less detail. Overall, the units perform as advertised with minor complaints – except reliability. The reason I gave 3 stars is mostly for reliability issues and customer service I’ve experienced with Lorex. In the future I would not buy their units with included LCD’s, but get something like this with a receiver that provides the quad view for my own monitor.

Overall, this camera works well both during the day and the night. The image is pretty clear in both situations. The fact that the system is expandable to up to 4 cameras is a plus. If you do have more than one camera, you can display sources one at a time, automatically rotate between them, or show four images at once in a quad view.

There are a few minor disappointments with this camera though:

- The red LEDs can be seen at night, so if you’re looking for a camera to be stealth, this isn’t a good choice. Not to mention that it’s also a little girthy.

- The red LEDs seem to drown out the edges of the image at times. Not to the point of being unusable though.

- The frame rate seems a little low. While it’s not too bad (it doesn’t look like its taking snapshots like a slow webcam), it also isn’t 30fps.

- You won’t be able to mount this inside a house pointing through a window for a couple of reasons. First, there is really no mounting option for that. And second, the LEDs reflect back into the camera by the window at night, so all you see is a bunch of lights.

- Image viewing is via RCA or BNC. You won’t be able to connect this to your computer for viewing/recording if you don’t have a video card with RCA or BNC inputs. There is a small port on the receiver labeled USB, but the manual says it is “unused”. It would have been nice to be able to connect this camera via USB to my computer for viewing/recording.

- Sound quality is not the best.

Still, I give this camera 4 stars for the image quality and simplicity, as well as for being able to be linked to 3 other cameras.

 “Simple security with room for expansion” 2009-07-23

The Lorex LW2201 Weatherproof Ultra Wireless Surveillance System works as well as advertised. I only have a few minor gripes about the system.

The set-up is incredibly simple. Just plug the power supplies into the camera and into the receiver, screw on the antennas, and plug the A/V cables into some kind of monitor/TV. My camera was already paired with the unit, so I didn’t have to do anything else. Pairing the wireless unit with the camera, or another camera is simple, just push 1 button on the receiver and a big yellow button on the camera and it’s good to go. They claim the pairing function securely connects your camera to your receiver so that no one else can grab hold of your camera’s frequency, but I have no way to test that. I’ll just take their word for it. The unit comes with a small arm stand for the camera, and a couple screws to mount it. You might need extra screw mounting pieces if you want to mount it into something like brick, though. Regardless, set-up and installation is a snap.

The image is very good in daylight. However, the night vision is only “acceptable” quality. The far-red LED lights create a bit of a halo effect around the center of the camera’s lens. So everything in the center of the image looks clear at 20-25ft or less, but the stuff on the periphery of the center of the image is a little darker and fuzzier. Still, you can see what’s going on. Also, be sure to note that you can see the red LED lights of the camera. This is good if you want everyoen to know that you have a camera, but if you want a more stealthy hidign spot for your camera, it’s definitely going to give it away. The mic works well at about 25 ft or less, but after that it definitely tails off.

So to sum up the problems: I think the night vision image is a little bad at the edges of the image, the mic isn’t all that great at longer distances, my unit had one dead LED bulb on it (I don’t think it really affected the image quality by itself), and the far-red LEDs are not truly infrared so you can see them with the naked eye.

The problems I stated are pretty minor in nature, though. The Lorex system is solid and you can expand it to include 4 total cameras, and even view them simultaneously split-screen in your monitor. Overall, I recommend this unit for a simple security solution.
